With a history that stretches more than 250 years, Devoe Paint identifies with the effort and craftsmanship put into building every structure in America’s towns and is committed to helping local communities.  Devoe has designated June as community service month and Devoe Paint a New Start involves bringing together communities across the country to support painting projects for significant local structures and landmarks.

“Devoe Paint a New Start was founded this spring to further expand partnerships with our independent paint dealers and demonstrate our commitment to helping their local communities,” said John Trenta, brand and channel manager for dealer marketing at Devoe Paint. “Many of our dealers are interested in community service efforts – to give back to their communities who have given so much to them.  Our projects began in late May and will be continuing through the month of June.”

“Any of our Devoe Paint dealers can participate in the program, and can work with our sales representatives to prepare and execute community painting projects in their local markets,” Trenta added.

A recent example of a Devoe Paint a New Start project involved a local paint dealer and lifelong Honolulu resident, Wayne Kato of Painter’s Warehouse.  With the help of employees, family and friends, Wayne and his partner, Cal Chong washed, prepped and painted the main entrance to Punchbowl National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific – in time for Memorial Day observance.  Punchbowl was established as a resting place for service members and their spouses following World War II, and receives more than 5 million visitors each year.

“Along with the project in Honolulu for Punchbowl, paint dealer Lynn Sprout of Caddo Paint is working with Devoe to provide paint for this year’s St. Jude Dream Home in Shreveport; the first St. Jude Dream Home was constructed in Shreveport, so this fundraising effort is particularly significant to the community,” said Trenta.  “The home is currently being painted and will be given away this summer, with proceeds going to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.”

Other painting projects planned for the month include a community center in Cincinnati for those with special needs and a cultural center in San Marcos, TX.
